The Clay Rooms is the new venture launched by co-founders Sarah Heaton and Helen Cammiss. Sarah has worked within the ceramic industry for 23 years, and been responsible for many global best sellers for Denby Pottery, Burleigh Pottery, her own label and selected retailers. Helen is a seasoned school leader with 25 years’ experience teaching art and design across mainstream and independent education. As a professional artist, she brings a flair and expertise to events that leave a lasting legacy.
“The idea behind the Clay Rooms is something we’ve been considering for a while,” says Sarah Heaton. “There is a real movement at the moment of independent makers and interest in activities such as baking, sewing and making generally. We get lots of enquiries about where people can learn pottery for themselves, and so it seemed the perfect time to launch this and take advantage of our fully equipped facilities.”
“As an educator and artist, I am passionate about inspiring and enabling the creativity of others and helping them to realise their potential,” explains Helen Cammiss. “We want the Clay Rooms to be somewhere where people come and not only learn new skills in a friendly environment, but also feel inspired to use those skills to create something beautiful.”
