Frequently Asked Questions
-
How long are your workshops?
All our workshops are 2 hours long.
-
If I don't manage to turn up will I get a refund?
We're afraid we are not able to refund as the studio will have been booked exclusively for your use.
-
I want to book onto a course, but can't...what should I do?
We have waiting lists for our 6 week courses, so please email or phone and we'll sort it for you.
-
How much is a 6 week course, when are they held and what will I make?
The 6 week course costs £120 and includes tuition, materials and firings. They are held on Tuesday mornings 10-12noon, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7-9pm. The courses are designed to give you a basic understanding of various techniques such as throwing, pinching, coiling, sculpting and slab work, plus decoration.
-
I am interested in being a member, what should I do?
If you email us, we will send you more info and arrange for you to have a look round the studio.
-
Will you fire and finish the things I make on the Throwing Taster?
Not usually, the session is more about the experience than creating finished objects. You can take away the clay pieces you create, however.
-
Do I get to keep the things I make on the Handbuilding and Sculpting workshops?
Yes! We dry, fire and glaze these pieces, ready for you to pick up after a couple of weeks.
-
I am a wheelchair user, is that a problem?
Not at all! The studio with the potters wheels in is on the ground floor, so as long as we know in advance we can accommodate you.
-
Do you have toilet facilities?
We do! Unfortunately, it is not an 'accessible' space.
-
Do I need to bring anything with me or wear special clothing?
No! Just bring yourself and, if throwing, tie your hair back, be prepared to remove jewellery and maybe get a bit messy!
-
I'm coming by car, where should I park?
You can park for free for 2 hours in the Sainsbury's car park, or pay in the town centre 'Shawcroft' car park. Both are a short walk away from our studio.
