FAQs
Our workshops are between 90 minutes and 2 hours.
A: When booking a workshop or course at The Clayrooms, including events hosted by Pottery@ThePub, it is crucial to select the correct session that suits your schedule. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds or transfers for bookings due to our policy. The only exceptions to this rule occur if the studio cancels an event or reschedules it to a date you are unable to attend. Therefore, we strongly recommend confirming your availability before finalizing your booking to ensure the best experience at our creative pottery studio.
We don't have waiting lists for our 5 week courses, so sign up for our newsletter to receive updates.
The 5 week course costs £150 and includes tuition, materials and firings. They run at different times so please check your location for more details. The courses are designed to give you a basic understanding of various techniques such as throwing, pinching, coiling, sculpting and slab work, plus decoration.
If you email us, we will send you more info and arrange for you to have a look round the studio.
The session is more about the experience than creating finished objects, we usually take a close look at how well you have done by slicing through your pots and checking your sections. In some circumstances, we can finish and glaze a pot from the session for you to pick up at a later date.
Alternatively, you are welcome to take away any clay pieces you make.
Yes! We dry, fire and glaze these pieces, ready for you to pick up after a month.
We would highly recommend you come to our Peak Village studio which is fully accessible including toilet facilities. If you would like to attend any of our other studios please check in advance as accessibility varies.
All our studios have toilet facilities but they do vary in accessibility.
No! Just bring yourself and, if throwing, tie your hair back, be prepared to remove jewellery and maybe get a bit messy!
All our studios are central and have parking nearby, Peak Village even has a large free carpark.
I'm afraid we can't guarantee anything, but 99% of the time they do!
The only exception is when a participant deviates from the tuition...if you follow the directions given it will survive, but if you do your own thing it might not.
We encourage our young potters from the age of 8, we also run lots of activities designed specifically for children. Please note the minimum age at our Loughborough studio is 12.
Our courses are designed for adults, however with prior consent from the studio managers we can accommodate teens from the age of 14 yrs or above.
Check our our Pottery@The Pubs and Paint@The Pubs tab, we even put on events in cafes and other venues around the country. If you have a special request please let us know!
